A Heroes' History of the Vikings

A Heroes' History of the Vikings

£4.99

The Vikings were quite keen on holidays, enjoying short-haul mini breaks from Norway or Denmark to the seaside across the North Sea to do a bit of ‘shopping’ or long-haul expeditions as far as America and Baghdad for business deals. They were also very enthusiastic about emigrating to England, despite the dreary weather and being loathed by the Anglo-Saxon locals. Still, the locals so liked Norse words and runes, story sagas and skills like carving stone and wood and crafting gold jewellery that they adopted a lot of it and England became a shared society with a Viking king - but only for a short time. In 1066 when Harald Hadrada went beserk against Harold of Wessex at York, it was the Viking that ended up with egg on his face!
