Best Children’s Publication Finalist - North Yorkshire Moors Railway

We are incredibly proud to announce that our children’s guidebook created for the North York Moors Railway has been shortlisted for an award; ‘Best Children’s Publication for the Association for Cultural Enterprises Awards’.

Meet the Finalists – The Association For Cultural Enterprises

The publication was submitted by Helen, Senior Shop Manager at the North York Moors railway we made it to one of the 3 finalists! The winner was announced on Friday 11th March as the British Museum publications A History of the World in 25 Cities.

The children’s guidebook was created to retail in the NYMR gift shop and it was important that the book was engaging for children of all ages, whilst telling the story of the unique history of this much-loved attraction.

We worked closely with the team at the vintage railway to create a 28-page guide, packed with educational elements, fun facts and highlights of the stations along the line. The pages are brought to life with hand-drawn illustrations of characters, wildlife and puzzles to keep children entertained whilst travelling on the train and still have plenty to do once back home. NYMR chose a hand-painted illustration style for their retail book.

At Colour Heroes, we can offer our clients a wide range of illustration styles which fit to a companies unique brand guideline and preferred style. We have a team of in-house illustrators, each with their own style, which we can partner to your bespoke product.

A few words from Helen Webb at North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Pickering:

“We approached Colour Heroes to produce an activity book for children which is both fun and educational. They have proven fantastic to work with, full of ideas, advice and they have oodles of patience! The illustrations and activities in the book bring the information to life, and we are thrilled with the result. We highly recommend Colour Heroes.”
