Many National Trust properties tempt their visitors back in spring to see the flowers and colour that the season brings. As Spring approaches, it’s time to celebrate the Easter holidays! This year, Easter Sunday will be celebrated on Sunday April 20th, 2025.

What is Easter?

Easter is the most important, movable feast in Christianity, and commemorates the resurrection of Jesus. Christians believe Jesus rose from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion, which happened during the Jewish festival of Passover.

Easter is also the basis for many other Christian holidays, such as Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Ascension Day, Pentecost and Trinity Sunday. Easter is also a cultural event that involves symbols such as eggs, bunnies and flowers, which represent new life and spring.
