Examples of Colour Heroes Work

Over the years, the team at Colour Heroes have created resources for a variety of Scottish clients. The work has included bespoke retail books, activity sheets and site maps. We have included just a few examples of this work below.

The William Wallace Retail Activity Book (Client: The National Wallace Monument)

The team at The National Wallace Monument wanted a children’s activity book to engage young visitors with the history of William Wallace. They needed a resource to educate families about the monument’s significance. We developed a 16-page, A5 activity book, featuring illustrations by one of our in-house artists. These illustrations depict William Wallace’s life, from his youth to his victory at the Battle of Stirling Bridge and the dramatic end of his life by execution.

This educational book is filled with fun illustrations and humorous asides to make complex content more accessible for children, while maintaining accuracy. The book includes various learning activities designed to captivate curious young minds and help them appreciate an important part of Scotland’s history.

Children can design their own coat of arms, count swords to complete the Wallace Sword fact file, and enjoy a warrior word search. There’s plenty to keep kids entertained as they learn about Scotland’s national hero, Sir William Wallace.

Kelpies - retail book and activity sheet (Client: The Helix, Home of The Kelpies)

We were tasked with creating a family-focused resource to engage children and teach visitors about The Kelpies, whilst encouraging families to explore the surrounding area, canal path and The Helix.

To fully understand the project, Lorraine travelled to The Helix in Falkirk and held a collaborative meeting with Paulina Piotrowska (Visitor Services Supervisor) and Debby Walker (Accounts Team). Lorraine presented our proposal for a 16-page, A5 activity book and postcard. We introduced Hunter, a hedgehog character illustrated by one of our in-house designers. Paulina and Debby were thrilled to see their ideas come to life and shared the proof with their team for feedback.

After receiving feedback, our creative team developed the activity book. It features educational facts narrated by Hunter the hedgehog and includes fun puzzles for children to complete on site, in the car, or at home.

Illustrated Maps (Clients: Scone Palace and Glamis Castle)

We created hand-llustrated maps for both Scone Palace and Glamis Castle showing walking routes around the grounds and points of interest for visitors to explore.

Bespoke Activity Book (Client: Surgeons Hall Museum)

We created a children’s activity book to engage young visitors during their tour of the Surgeons Hall Museum. This bespoke, hand-illustrated book includes educational facts and puzzles that children can enjoy both at the museum and at home, serving as a memorable keepsake from their visit.
